Plot & Structure

Christmas Books
For Christmas, I asked for a few writiing books. As you can see from the above photo, these are the three I received. Actually, they were the only three I asked for.

I've started reading Plot & Structure, but I'm not too far into it yet. So far, though, what I have read has been encouraging and has given me some ideas.

As I mentioned in a previous post recently, for about a month I was without my computer - the hard drive in my laptop decided to die, and I couldn't start the computer up at all. I have an external hard drive that I had saved some stuff on (including doc files of my writing and my novel), but I can't seem to get it back onto the laptop. I was able to copy over my pictures (over 6,000 of them - sadly I forgot to make a back up of several photos I took during the fall), but now I can't remember how I did that. So, until I can get the info back onto the laptop, I am at a standstill with the novel.

After reading Plot & Structure and becoming motivated and encouraged, I've decided to start work on a new story. I'm going to use some of the ideas I've read so far in the book, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it all works out! I will admit that with the other novel, I was having a difficult time writing it. Plot & Structure was recommended to my by Jody Hedlund as something that would be beneficial to me. I'm really glad she did! Thanks so much, Jody!

What writing books have you read that have helped with your writing?

I have read the book GMC and finally got it! My characters' goals were never clear and their motivation weak.

Sounds like a great book, and probably one I should check out!
